Of all the times for a wire to break it had to be a Friday night...

In the end I had to do some DIY on my brace.

Today (Tuesday) I managed to get an emergency appointment with my ortho to sort the brace out! It was just a tad painful..

Also, to stop the archwire catching on the inside of my mouth on the bottom where I don't have any teeth he has put a clear sheath covering... Its worked wonders.

Anyway as its nearly the three week mark I have attached a one week and almost three week comparison. My top teeth have been pulled inwards instead of poking out so much! And the archwire on the bottom is really starting to straighten up!

All I can say is ow ow ow ow ow...

Its been two weeks since I had my brace put on. The past couple of days have been really good. Hardly any wax required and sometimes i've almost forgotten that I had my brace there.

Today however has been awful... I've now got about 7 ulcers in my mouth. The brace is poking into my mouth everywhere and my teeth are dull aching..

HELP!!!

I've done about four salt water mouth washes today, bit it hasn't helped yet!

Its strange because I haven't done anything different, like talk excessively or eat different food.

Well. Couldn't help it!!! Here are my two week pictures!

Top pic is day one and that was as much as I could close my teeth together.

Bottom is today. I've noticed that the wire in the corner was really crossed over on day one and has virtually straightened by today.

Virtually all of my top row seem to have been pulled down slightly. I can feel the difference when I put my teeth together. It feels wierd because i've never had that bite before.

My teeth are still tingling away and I can't really chew very well.. I won't take any more pictures now unless I see something significant happening!

My first adjustment is on the 11th May.. Will try and leave it until then before I post some more!

I think I have a little movement....

The past few nights have been awful. Literally no sleep! Keep taking painkillers but it didn't really help that much. My whole face felt like it was trying to pull to one side.

Luckily i've got my friends over at Archwired.com on the forum to make me feel better

I had a slightly better night last night. Woke up at 5.13am with a sore mouth so got up and took some painkillers and did a salt water rinse. Back to bed. Took me a while to drop off again but I did and slept til 9am..

Now i've had some sleep I feel a bit better. Although i've now got to go and brush my teeth after my porridge for breakfast so thats gonna be real painful!...

I know its only day two, but I keep looking in the mirror. I can't believe it but on the bottom left the gap where I had a tooth removed is definately smaller. My gum looks like it is being compressed by my front tooth that looks like it has moved slightly. Its very strange!

All my teeth are really tingling. It can be quite a nice feeling! As long as I don't touch them. Because thats when they get painful!

Well its day one with my brace on. Had it put on at 9am. Its not nearly 5pm. Its a bit painful. My teeth are really painful to touch but other than that they have a nice sort of tingling sensation about them!

One of my lower teeth was so twisted that the ortho couldn't fix the ceramic on. He said he will be able to fix it on hopefully in about a month to six weeks once my other lower teeth on the front have started moving. The twisted one should then start "untwisting" at the same time.

My upper 2nds have ceramics on, but aren't fixed to the brace yet. The Ortho thinks that this will probably take place sometime towards the 3rd / 4th adjustment.

I've included some pics below... Can't believe I finally have the brace on. I do feel really quite hideous with it on, but I know the outcome will be worth it!

Its day three since i've had my four extractions...

There really isn't much pain to speak of. Its just annoying that I can't eat decent food! I had a tooth extracted from each corner of my mouth so I don't have a good side to chew on.

I'm rinsing my mouth out with warm salty water several times a day. Its not the best but I realise I have to keep my mouth clean.

I keep looking at my teeth in the bag and looking in my mouth and wondering how they are going to close up the holes and make my teeth straight!

I tried to eat a chocolate marshmallow today. It took ten minutes!

Been eating mashed up everything and i've rediscovered Jelly!

Guess I have to get used to this as i've heard that once the brace is on, the sorts of food that I love like nuts and crispy bread and crispy roast potatoes go out the window!!!

I'm counting the days down to having my brace on. Only four to go!
